Shaeffer Hyde Construction is pleased to announce our President, David Hyde’s, recent appointment to the Vail Valley Foundation Board of Directors. Since 1981, the Vail Valley Foundation has been instrumental in continuously cultivating our community and culture.
The Vail Valley Foundation is a non-profit organization that seeks to enhance and sustain the quality of life in the Vail Valley by providing leadership in the arts, athletics, and education.

The Vail Valley Foundation is known for conceptualizing and managing Beaver Creek’s Vilar Center for the Performing Arts, and Vail’s Gerald Ford Amphitheater. At the Vilar Center, visitors and locals alike are invited to enjoy a variety of year-round performances including jazz, comedy, dance, film, Broadway productions, opera, rock concerts, family shows and more. At the Ford Amphitheater, the Vail Valley Foundation produces Mountains of Music during the GoPro Games, the Hot Summer Nights concert series, and the Whistle Pig Vail concert series. The Amphitheater also hosts the iconic Vail Dance Festival, a unique two-week lineup of exceptional international artists.
The Vail Valley Foundation is responsible for bringing many momentous athletic events to our community. In Beaver Creek, the Xfinity Birds of Prey Audi FIS Ski World Cup downhill ski races mark the beginning of our winter season. Designed for the Alpine World Ski Championships in 1997, the racecourse was home to the second and third world championships hosted by the Vail Valley Foundation. The Foundation also puts on the GoPro Mountain Games, a fun-filled extended weekend of various games including mountain biking, rock climbing, running, fishing, river sports, yoga, slacklining, and dock dogs. The Foundation coordinated Vail Valley’s participation in the Colorado Classic peloton bicycle race, which in 2019 became the only women’s stand-alone stage race in the Western Hemisphere.
YouthPower365 is the Foundation’s education initiative and is responsible for providing the valley with some of its most impactful programs. The mission is to assist Eagle County children in early childhood, K-12, and scholarship opportunities. In support of Youth Power 365, the Foundation hosts the annual Black Diamond Ball and Star Dancing Gala as well as other fundraising events through partnership with local businesses.
The programs, venues, and events brought to our community by the Vail Valley Foundation are a large part of what makes our valley such a special place to live, cultivate relationships, and raise a family.David is deeply devoted to serving our valley and seeing it thrive. Shaeffer Hyde Construction is an early adopter of the CareerWise Apprenticeship Program. CareerWise is in collaboration with the Eagle County School District, Vail Valley Partnership, Colorado Mountain College and the Vail Valley Foundation’s YouthPower365. CareerWise offers a pathway for high school students to obtain hands-on skills-based training for good-paying jobs in the community. Shaeffer Hyde currently employs two apprentices who come to the company from Battle Mountain High School.David is also involved with the Walking Mountains Science Center’s Actively Green Program and oversaw Shaeffer Hyde Construction’s Actively Green Certification in 2018. The program is responsible for significant reductions in water consumption, energy use, CO2 emissions, and overall waste diverted to the landfill by local businesses.The highest compliment Shaeffer Hyde can receive as a company is the endorsement of our leader by one of the most respected organizations in the valley.
