Owner, President

David Hyde, President of Shaeffer Hyde Construction, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management from University of Florida. He spent his early career building in Miami, Washington DC, and Atlanta. David is a LEED Accredited Professional and a member of the U.S. Green Building Council with almost three decades of experience in the construction industry. After joining the company in 2007, David has led Shaeffer Hyde as President since 2012. His specialized knowledge as a LEED AP has helped the company continue to make strides with sustainability in construction. A compassionate leader of our company, David does everything he can to empower our team through leadership programs and professional development opportunities. He is particularly passionate about participating in the CareerWise Colorado Apprenticeship Program to give youth a head start in careers in construction. He serves on the Vail Valley Foundation’s Board of Directors, where he highlights their educational initiatives in addition to enthusiastic support for their art and athletics programs. When he isn’t in the office or at a job site, David loves to volunteer, play guitar, coach youth basketball, ski, and mountain bike. He and his wife Alex, who originally brought him to Vail Valley, have two sons, one attending University of Colorado, and one attending Battle Mountain High School.

What's one thing you're learning right now?

How to use Virtual Reality headsets to communicate what a project will ultimately look like, and how that can help the building process. I have also been exploring pushing the limits of Matterport technology during the construction process to solve challenges more quickly.

What's your favorite work memory?

My favorite construction memory was when we flew a stainless-steel pool and set it in during a snowstorm. It was an engineering and construction feat that I was proud to be a small part of.

What's something interesting about you that everyone should know?

I’m in a band! People are shocked when they first see me on stage singing and playing guitar. Also, I’m in the National Association of Home Builders Builder 20 Group, which is a group of 20 custom builders from around the country that share best practices.

George Shaeffer

George Shaeffer is the Founder of Shaeffer Hyde Construction. He’s a fourth generation Coloradan who grew up in Denver. George is a graduate of Western State University, and he moved to Vail in the 70s as a ski enthusiast. During that time, George worked at ski shop, and as carpenter. He started his own business in 1979, and built significant portions of Vail, Beaver Creek, and the ranches in the Vail Valley while establishing relationships with local architects and a reputation for building awe-inspiring residences. George is an avid outdoorsman who is passionate about his family, horses, and ranching. He lives with his amazing wife, Pam. George has two children, a son Brian, and a daughter Lauren. His children and four grandchildren are part of what has motivated him to forge an incredible legacy with Shaeffer Hyde Construction.

What are you most proud of about founding Shaeffer Hyde?

After 43 years in business, I am most proud of the fact that the company has endured. Our company culture has taken a path that is familiar and consistent, but that has also evolved with the times.

What's something unique about you that not everyone would know?

I compete in cutting, which are performance horse shows, around the country through the National Cutting Horse Association.

What are your hobbies outside of wok?

I love to spend time with my family, especially my grandchildren. I also love hunting, fishing, and of course, horseback riding!

Heather Duncan

Heather Duncan is Shaeffer Hyde’s Director of Operations. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Colorado – Boulder, and has a diverse background in heavy highway construction, oil fields, with a technology company working on storage systems, with a design-build mechanical company, and in preconstruction as an estimator. This rich experience history has given Heather a keen understanding of all building systems and finishes. She is an expert on all that is required to make a company like Shaeffer Hyde work seamlessly to provide the highest quality construction services.

What is your favorite trade?

That’s a tough one! I love the irony of masons creating an elegant look with rocks. The skill of a good interior trim carpenter and the fine details they can create never ceases to amaze me. Finally, because of my engineering background, I have a strong appreciation to the core MEP trades that provide these homes with comfort and function.

What is something interesting or unique about you that not everyone would know?

I played rugby in college and in the Women’s Premier League. I also studied abroad in Australia in college for a semester.

What’s your favorite Colorado tradition?

I do love the Rockies Opening Day even though I’m not an avid baseball fan. (I primarily follow the Denver Broncos and Colorado Avalanche when it comes to professional sports.)

I also love Christmas Tree “hunting”. 🙂

Travis Cremonese

Travis Cremonese is Shaeffer Hyde’s Director of Pre-Construction, and he is OSHA-10 certified with a first aid/CPR certification as well. He started in construction as a teenager working for the family business, and returned to construction after moving to Colorado after graduating from college. Travis is a dedicated and collaborative leader of the Preconstruction department who prioritizes learning and growing with his team. He thrives on getting projects started and aligning all team members to the vision of the client.

What’s your favorite trade?

Electrical and AV trades. Those come naturally to me, and are the easiest for me to understand.

What are you most passionate about in your job?

Collaboration with others. I thoroughly enjoy teamwork. I also enjoy teaching and training others. Also passionate about the challenges and the puzzle of building high end custom homes.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

Mountain biking, hiking, fishing, ski and snowboarding, paddle boarding, listening to good music and watching and playing sports. My primary hobby is being dad for my six-year-old boys.

Tiffany Ingoldsby is the Chief Financial Officer for Shaeffer Hyde. She is a CPA and began her career in construction in 2004 when she began working with Shaeffer Hyde. Tiffany is driven by the passion of the entire Shaeffer Hyde team in bringing magnificent homes to life. She is always keeping the company on the cutting edge of technology, efficiency, and current best practices to help Shaeffer Hyde retain top talent. Her analytical, logical approach, tempered with her kind and respectful manner, keeps the entire company on track.

What is your favorite part of the building process?

Walking the project at the end of the job and listening to the passion and pride of the job team show off the finished product. They spend years of their life working on a complicated project and it is so impressive listening to their passion and detailed experiences as the project evolved over time. They are always so proud of the finished product and always highlight the collaboration from the entire team that worked on the job.

What makes your family unique?

I live with my husband, two kids (a 14-year-old girl and 12-year-old boy) and one rescue dog. My husband and I met at a mountain bike race 24 years ago and are happy to be raising a family in the valley with all the possible adventures. As a family, we enjoy camping, mountain biking, and skiing together.

Tell us about your favorite work-related memory.

I love being a part of the SHC family and through the years watching the SHC family grow through marriages, kids, grandkids etc., and the support and love of everyone here celebrating each life milestone.

Bob is the Director of all services in Aspen. He guides our team and all operations on Aspen projects, from preconstruction through construction completion, warranty, and home care services. Having visited Colorado for 30 years to enjoy mountain biking, skiing, and high-altitude golf led Bob to plant roots in the mountains and join Shaeffer Hyde in building luxury homes. Prior to living in Colorado, Bob was a five-time winner of the Build Georgia Award, a prize awarded by the Association of General Contractors for excellence in complex projects and innovation in construction techniques. Bob is also a sustainability champion, one of the first ten contractors to achieve LEED Accredited Professional status in the state of Georgia, where he is a founding member of the state’s US Green Building Council. 

Why do you like working in the valley?

The Aspen Valley has a unique energy. The people create such a wonderful community where there’s a lot of like-mindedness about a work-hard, play-hard mentality. The seasons and the activities make it so there’s a new form of beauty to enjoy every day.

Why do you love working at Shaeffer Hyde Construction?

Our team is exceptional.  Everyone is bought into the goals, vision, and we live our culture everyday.  We always do the right thing.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

Spending time with my better half Lauren, our two dogs, Fitz and Woody and family.  Living life to the fullest and getting after it. Traveling and enjoying the outdoors and all that is in our backyard. Alpine Skiing, golf, hiking, cycling, fishing, etc. Additionally, I enjoy helping others and volunteering my time. I primarily volunteer with Lift Up Food Security and Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers. I’m also an Aspen Rotary Club Member, where I’m Co-Chair of Membership Committee.

Scott Smith is the Director of Home Care, and has been in the construction industry since 2005. He got started as a partner in a private equity development company and started a residential property management business to manage the homes the company built. Passionate about client satisfaction, Scott is constantly working to improve the customer service and Home Care experience for Shaeffer Hyde’s clients. He puts a professional emphasis on continuing our strong tradition of quality and care for every home.

What’s something interesting or unique about you that not everyone would know?

I went to college on a dual scholarship for football and baseball.

Growing up outside of Seattle (hometown of Port Orchard, WA) and spending my first 32 years in Washington State, I am a huge Mariners and Seahawks fan.

Andrew “Andy” Fobair has over 25 years of experience in construction. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management with a minor in Architecture from the University of Houston. Through his career in construction, Andy has been a concrete form carpenter, a framer, and a field superintendent before transitioning to his latest role as Project Manager for Shaeffer Hyde. His optimism and resiliency carry over into every aspect of his work. Andy’s background in architecture gives him an edge on navigating drafting software programs when collaborating with architects, as well as reading and understanding even the most complex construction documents with ease.

What’s your favorite quote?

What’s your favorite trade? Why?

Framing, because of my intimate knowledge of the trade. It was my profession for around 15 years.

Brandon Sanchez is an Apprentice Project Coordinator and is currently pursuing an architectural degree at the University of Colorado – Boulder. Introduced to the construction industry through the CareerWise youth apprenticeship program as a high school sophomore, Brandon has fully immersed himself in his role at Shaeffer Hyde to learn, grow, and contribute to the team in every way he can. Hard-working, dedicated, and analytical, Brandon brings fresh enthusiasm to his role as Apprentice Project Coordinator, keeping projects on track.

What’s your favorite season in Colorado?

Growing up in Vail, there really isn’t really any other answer than winter. The valley becomes a winter wonderland unlike anything around.

What’s your favorite part of the building process?

My favorite aspect of the building process is when drywall is being put up. It solidifies the half-way mark of a finished home. It’s when a house really begins to look like a home.

Why do you like working in the valley?

Knowing I can be part of the expansion process of the valley that I have grown to love makes me feel like I am leaving a legacy behind.

Rooted in a family legacy of home builders in Atlanta, Brandon Thompson’s path into the construction industry was practically written in the blueprints. As a seasoned Project Manager at Shaeffer Hyde, Brandon is driven by the belief that “the best preparation for good work tomorrow is to do good work today.” Growing up in a household that breathed life into architectural visions, Brandon developed a passion for design and construction that fuels his devotion to every project. He is particularly excited about the science of passive building, leveraging innovative approaches to enhance project sustainability. His dedication to creating environmentally conscious structures reflects his commitment to leaving a lasting impact on both the industry and the planet.

Away from the construction site, Brandon shares common ground with skiing and rafting enthusiasts in the valley. However, his greatest joys lie in the moments spent with his wife, one-year-old son, and their faithful canine companion.

Witnessing the transformation of designers’ visions into tangible reality. Problem-solving becomes an integral part of the process, and I thrive on overcoming obstacles to ensure that the end result aligns with the initial design intent.

Telluride Jazz Fest and full moon skis or hikes.

Bryce Campbell is a Project Manager with a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management from Northern Arizona University. He also holds a LEED GA certification. What do you think Shaeffer Hyde’s most important core value is?

Collaboration – Teamwork is a core value of mine. Whether it be work, sports, groups, or friends, working with others, and creating and refining ideas together gets the best out of everyone. When all voices are heard to develop and create, the group satisfaction and outcome is always unmatched.

What’s your favorite trade?

I love tile work, and how the small pieces come together into an art form. Framing is also a favorite because the shaping of the structure is incredible to see.

What’s your favorite place you’ve traveled to?

I went with close friends on an “active” vacation to take a mountain bike trip to Oaxaca, Mexico. Some of the most incredible mountain biking I’ve done. Excellent culture, people, food/drinks, and fun.

Brian J. Canepa is an on-site Superintendent. He holds a degree from Palomar College in Industrial Education and has a background in electrical work and HVAC. He holds a CDL and is a licensed general contractor in the state of California. As a third-generation licensed contractor, Brian is a multi-skilled, driven part of the Shaeffer Hyde team. His first-hand knowledge of multiple aspects of construction ensures that the client’s concepts and vision are brought to life with the highest quality of work.

What’s your favorite trade and why?

HVAC and plumbing. At this climate, we are challenged with heating and cooling. I love making these systems work together and assisting with the automation of the systems. These trades provide comfort in a home.

Why do you like working in the valley?

I am exposed to some of the best craftsmen and tradesmen in the world. It’s fantastic being part of some of the most challenging projects in such a special and beautiful valley.

What do think Shaeffer Hyde’s most important core value is?

I hold a deep admiration for the trades that demand meticulous attention to detail, particularly the exceptional craftsmanship of tile setters and woodworkers/trim carpenters. Their skills are nothing short of artistic mastery.

Why do you like working in the valley?

Valley life is truly a blessing. Here, I can pursue my passion for home building and enjoy a balanced lifestyle that includes skiing, biking, staying active, and savoring the breathtaking scenery—making each day an exciting adventure.

His strong motivational presence on the job helps Shaeffer Hyde bring high-quality homes to life. Dave’s extensive experience in construction makes him an invaluable resource for the entire Shaeffer Hyde team. His sharp eye and well-developed aesthetic sense elevates his work as a superintendent, delivering incredible levels of detail on every inch he helps build.

What’s your favorite season in Colorado and why?

Spring. I enjoy watching the forest grow again, and I enjoy flower identification.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

Climbing, hiking with my dog (a big dog – more to love!), and photography.

Dean is a versatile Superintendent with over 35 years of construction experience. He brings to Shaeffer Hyde his diverse and comprehensive abilities in project design, project management, supervision, estimating, and finish carpentry. A confident supervisor excelling at overseeing both residential and commercial projects, Dean is a man of integrity, resourcefulness, and focus. He adds an artist’s touch to his projects. Owners, colleagues, and subcontractors quickly find him to be someone they can trust, building productive relationships where ideas flourish into reality.

Where are you from?

Born in Decorah, Iowa. I moved a lot growing up, always the new kid in school. Spent my junior high and high school years in Boulder. I’ve called Glenwood Springs my home town for 51 years.

Tell us about your family.

My son and daughter became parents about three years ago. My grandkids fill a space I didn’t know was empty.

What’s your favorite Colorado tradition?

Carbondale Mountain Fair – I’ve been to all 51 of them!

Dennis thrives on tight schedules and is always striving to deliver the highest quality. He is down-to-earth and focused, keeping teams on track and ensuring every challenge is overcome by drawing on his decades of experience.

Why do you like working at Shaeffer Hyde Construction?

I’ve worked here for 40 years, and like my co-workers. The family atmosphere sets it apart.

How would you describe yourself in three words?

Experienced quality builder.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

Erik Basch’s journey in construction began as an apprentice carpenter in 2015. His hands-on experience and passion for the field led him to pursue a degree in Construction Management, further enhancing his expertise in the industry.

Erik hails from Grand Rapids, Michigan, but his heart now resides in the mountains of Colorado, where he can pursue his love for winter sports, especially skiing. Erik’s diverse interests extend to classical philosophy, and one of his favorite quotes is from Seneca: “While we are postponing, life speeds by.” Erik embraces this attitude in his work, reminding us to be proactive and make the most of every detail, for it’s in these precise, well-executed elements that true excellence is achieved.

What’s your favorite place you’ve traveled to? Why?

Nunavut, Canada, in the Arctic Circle. It is one of the most overwhelmingly empty areas on the planet. The profound sense of solitude and space I experienced while there allowed me to gain a fresh perspective on life and the world around me.

What sports teams and/or players do you cheer for?

Chicago sports.

Eric Wasdorp is a Shaeffer Hyde Superintendent who is OSHA-30 certified and has completed the B.E.S.T. Code Test. He has been in the industry for nearly five years. Prior to joining Shaeffer Hyde, Eric was a wildland firefighter. He keeps a cool head under pressure and thrives on delivering a finished product that delights the client and that the team is proud to present. Eric leads through collaboration and is a perpetual student of all aspects of the construction industry. He brings his fresh perspective to find creative solutions to any problem.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

Family, snowboarding, rafting, fishing, camping, and going to see live music.

Flip got his start in the construction industry in 2014 selling building materials across Colorado. Intrigued by the field, he furthered his knowledge at Cedar School in British Columbia, where he visited mills and logging operations. This firsthand experience fueled Flip’s enthusiasm for direct project control and supervision, leading him to Shaeffer Hyde—where his ultimate fulfillment comes from delivering meticulously completed projects. Here, Flip thrives on the energy from the nature of the work and the exceptional team at Shaeffer Hyde Construction.

Outside of work, Flip enjoys skiing, rafting, hunting, fishing, and camping. His adventurous lifestyle is shared with his loving family, including his wife, whom he met in the ski lift line at Vail. Together, they navigate the great outdoors with their young daughter and their Bernese Mountain Dog, Reba.

 

What’s your favorite quote?

In the words of Warren Miller, “If you don’t do it this year, you’ll be one year older when you do.” Embracing a mindset of lifelong learning, I’m currently delving into a new construction software, uncovering its untapped potential within the industry.

What’s something interesting or unique about you that not everyone would know?

The first home I contributed to building was for a family of eight during a mission trip in Guatemala.

What do you think SH’s most important core value is? Why?

Collaboration. Drawing from my background in team sports, I’ve always appreciated the extraordinary accomplishments of a group working seamlessly together. This sense of camaraderie was palpable from day one at Shaeffer Hyde and has remained a distinctive and enriching aspect of my career experience.

Heather Eklund is a Preconstruction Coordinator for Shaeffer Hyde. The daughter of a carpenter, Heather has had an interest in the industry since she was a child, and has been immersed directly since 2016, originally specializing in door and cabinet hardware. She has been with Shaeffer Hyde Construction since 2018. Her creativity and compassion blend together to result in a level of detail and care for every aspect of the Preconstruction process that is unmatched. Heather’s dedication to making the process truly collaborative helps bring about seamless, beautiful results.

Why do you like working in the valley?

I was born and raised in the Vail Valley, with my family on my mom’s side being silver miners in the Aspen area originally. I like working in such a tight knit community. You will see people you’re working with on projects out in town and at events.

What’s your favorite season in Colorado?

That special time between spring and summer when the trees are a super vibrant green and everything starts to grow again after the long winter. It’s like this light at the end of a tunnel.

What's your favorite part of the building process?

The teamwork. So many trades coming together to create the beautiful homes.

Born and raised in Littleton, CO, Joe embarked on his construction journey right after high school, initially specializing in siding work in Denver. A friend’s recommendation eventually led him to Shaeffer Hyde, where his passion for flawless project execution took root.   

Joe’s interests include E-biking, video games, and spending quality time with his beloved dog, Melvin. As an avid Denver sports fan, he never misses a chance to cheer on the Denver Broncos. Joe’s energetic personality brings a unique spark to the team. He embodies the values of Shaeffer Hyde, bringing hard work, trustworthiness, and loyalty to every project he undertakes.  

What is your favorite work-related memory?

I was blown away on my first day at Shaeffer Hyde, and I remember how excited I was to be touring some incredible homes. I can still recall meeting so many people that day that have become a part of my work family. That first day made a huge imprint on me. 

What is your favorite place you’ve traveled to? Why?

Isla Mujeres, Mexico. The combination of breathtaking beaches and the genuine kindness of the locals creates a truly unforgettable experience.

What is your favorite quote?

“The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.”  I would describe every Schaeffer Hyde project as much greater than simply the sum of its parts. When all the expertise and meticulous care of our team comes together in design and construction, the finished product is even more impressive than originally imagined. 

Jon Stevenson

Jon Stevenson is a Project Manager for large projects and has been with Shaeffer Hyde for seventeen years. He holds a degree in Construction Management from Colorado State University. Jon has experience in preconstruction, as a laborer, as a superintendent, and as a project manager, making him a rare triple threat in the industry with incredible depth of knowledge of every angle of a construction project. With experience in residential and commercial projects, Jon brings an analytical eye and a drive for perfection to every project.

What’s your favorite Colorado tradition/event?

The Eagle County Rodeo. I think it’s good to get a good dose of our local heritage every summer.

What’s your favorite place you’ve traveled to?

Whitsunday Islands in Australia. I captained a 40′ catamaran for five days, exploring the turquoise blue waters and uninhabited beaches and islands.

What’s the most interesting thing you’re working on right now?

A remodel of a home from the early 2000’s. That does not seem that long ago, but construction techniques and technology have changed greatly. Taking an old home and transforming it into a new minted masterpiece is always an exciting challenge.

Kevin Squires

Kevin Squires is a customer service supervisor for Shaeffer Hyde. He is OSHA certified, with training in safety for scaffolding, cranes, ladders, trenches, chemicals, and general safety. He began 30 years ago as a laborer and has spent his career building beautiful houses and taking care of them. Kevin thrives on providing above and beyond maintenance care for Shaeffer Hyde homes, troubleshooting for clients, and completing projects with prompt efficiency and an emphasis on craftsmanship.

Where are you from?

Redcliff, CO, right here in Eagle County.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

Helping out at my kiddos’ school. I also enjoy biking, paddle-boarding, camping, and swimming.

What’s the most interesting thing you’re working on right now?

I’m upgrading a home. It’s getting a completely new finish with updated electronics and lighting throughout.

Manny Pacheco

Manuel “Manny” Pacheco is a carpenter, labor foreman, and bilingual English/Spanish translator for the Shaeffer Hyde team. He is an indispensable part of the team on the job site, providing skilled carpentry, careful oversight, and positive, fast translation assistance between team members. Manny ensures that no detail gets lost in translation and work can continue smoothly, and he prioritizes safety at every turn.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

Hiking in the mountains, hunting, fishing (especially ice fishing!), swimming, camping, and traveling. I love plants and gardening. I had a bumper crop of peas last year in the back yard. I am a single parent, so my girls help out immensely and I love to enjoy my hobbies with them.

My job is always moving forward every day. There is never a dull moment.

Mark Walinsky

Mark Walinsky is a Project Manager with a BA in Accounting from Assumption University. He has certifications in asbestos testing, crane rigging, and first aid. He has been in the construction industry since 1986, Mark approaches every project with candor and diligence. Mark relishes in every step of the building process and has a deep appreciation for all the details coming together to successful completion.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

Time with family – I have the smartest dog in the world and the most loving wife in the universe. I also enjoy cooking, paddleboarding, skiing, golfing, camping, hunting, and foraging.

What’s your favorite Colorado season?

Fall. It’s fresh, colorful, and incredibly beautiful. Plus, there’s Oktoberfest!

Mitch Sturde is a job site superintendent with over 40 years in the construction industry and 28 years with Shaeffer Hyde. His passion for construction began with a high school shop class, and his career began as a carpenter, his favorite of the trades. Mitch is known for delivering high-quality work on every project he’s involved in, and prides himself on consistently learning through on-site training and collaborating with his peers at Shaeffer Hyde to continually pursue new levels of excellence.

How would you describe yourself in three words?

Passionate, kind, hard-working.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

Mountain biking, skiing, hiking, traveling. I love to spend time with my wife, Gina, and our two sons, Alex and Jake, who are both in college.

The people are great. I was able to learn and grow in this company for the past 28 years. What a great way to learn and excel.

Phillip Riggio is a Project Coordinator with a background in high-end landscaping and construction work from his time spent in San Diego, CA. He first began in construction in high school as an apprentice to his father. With a love of masonry, brick work, and woodworking, Phillip brings a hands-on understanding of the nuances of a project. He is a down-to-earth, dependable, and kind part of the Shaeffer Hyde team, ready to go the extra mile to bring a project to completion.

Why do you like working in the valley?

It has always been a dream of mine to live in the mountains. Being from New York, I am used to the cold weather and winter is my favorite season. Plus, the views are incredible!

What do you think is Shaeffer Hyde's most important core value?

Robbie Giardino is on Shaeffer Hyde’s preconstruction team. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management. Robbie got started in the construction industry with an interest in construction that began as a teenager. Passionate about learning new products and methods of building, Robbie’s curiosity and dedication to the pursuit of excellence positively shapes the preconstruction process for our clients and helps lead to outstanding finished homes.

Sierra Scanlan is Shaeffer Hyde’s Administrative Accountant, handling the billing for our clients as well as drafting and finalizing contracts for our new clients. Her background is in banking, and she recently made the switch to construction to join Shaeffer Hyde in 2020. Sierra is passionate about efficiency and timeliness in the processes she helps facilitate. Her collaborative approach to financial aspects of our business helps ensure that projects flow smoothly with clear communication.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

My biggest hobby is running and racing. I’ve raced pretty much every distance, but my favorite is the marathon. I have run four marathons so far. I also like going to concerts, listening to music, and trying out new restaurants.

Tell us a story about your favorite work-related memory.

I ran the Boston Marathon in April 2022, and I received so much support from my co-workers, not only after the race but also as I was training. It meant a lot that they took interest in something that is so important to me.

Where is your favorite place you’ve traveled?

Ironically, it is Colorado. I spent a lot of time here growing up (I’m from Romeoville, IL in the Chicago suburbs) and I always envisioned living here. So, in some ways, I am living out a dream of mine.

Tim Wilson is a service technician and carpenter on our Home Care team. He has over 25 years of trim carpentry experience, and has been in construction for over 30 years working with various builders and construction subcontractors before finding a home with Shaeffer Hyde Construction. Tim is detail-oriented and motivated by a job well done, and enjoys taking on elaborate, unusual projects in the valley. He is known for completing projects at the highest level of client expectation and quality.

What’s your favorite season in Colorado?

Spring. It’s still snowing but the temperatures are milder. There are often hints of the wonderful summer weather here, but I can still get in a bit of last-minute snow skiing.

What are you most passionate about in your job?

Finishing projects to the highest levels of quality and expectation.

Where are you from?

I was born in New Orleans and grew up in Louisiana and Mississippi.

Todd Mann

Todd Mann is a superintendent who began in the construction industry in 1974, starting with framing as a high school sophomore. His natural talent for leadership and working with his hands led him to a life-long career in the industry from there. He holds a two-year degree in building trades, estimating, and drafting. He has taught rigging, plan reading, and safety classes, and has actively kept himself on the leading edge of current equipment and construction safety classes for 46 years. Todd is a highly motivational superintendent who brings a true tradesperson’s diligence and hard work to every project.

Tell us about your favorite work-related memory.

There are so many to choose from, but a particularly memorable one is setting a three piece stainless steel pool 30′ in the air with 1/4″ tolerance in a snowstorm with a total blind crane set. We NAILED it. (This is also David Hyde’s favorite memory – check his bio for a link to a video of the event!)

What makes your family unique?

My wife and I have been best friends for 46 years and married 40 years and live on some acreage off-grid. We have two happily married, awesome daughters who have great children. We are unique because we all are so very tight-knit, and have equally wonderful sons-in-law who keep up with our amazing daughters!

What are your hobbies outside of work?

Projects around our home. Archery, elk hunting, bird hunting, fishing, riding our horses, and moving cattle.

Troy French is a Project Coordinator, and holds a Construction Management degree from Northern Arizona University. Troy’s family is in the construction world, which started his interest in construction as early as high school. His formal construction career began four years before he joined the Shaeffer Hyde family. He is passionate about finding solutions to challenges and is guided by a true love for building, elevating every project he engineers to a new level of innovation. Troy is Shaeffer Hyde’s chief drone pilot, Matterport videographer, and virtual reality leader.

What’s something interesting about you that not everyone would know?

I can understand and know how to communicate in American Sign Language.

what is your favorite part of the building process?

Seeing a home near completion and thinking how much time, efforts, materials, sweat and meetings went in to the entire process.

Snowboarding, fishing, hunting, rafting, paddle boarding, football, baseball, soccer, and golf.

Whit Hyde

Whit Hyde is a laborer for Shaeffer Hyde Construction. He has been interested in the construction industry for most of his life, and began honing his building and drafting skills starting the summer of his sophomore year of high school. Whit’s love of construction was spurred by his family’s business, and he looks forward to a future in architecture. A perpetual student of the trade, Whit is particularly interested in the preconstruction process and studies blueprints carefully. A true team player, Whit is a hard worker who is always ready to lend a hand and dive in whole-heartedly to any project.

Why do you like working in the valley?

It’s one of the most beautiful places on Earth, and I love the tight-knit community where everyone seems to know everyone.

Zach Knebel started as a foreman and is now a Superintendent for Shaeffer Hyde. He began in the construction industry when he was eighteen, fueled by a passion to build things by hand himself. Zach currently holds a Class A CDL. With a background as a carpenter, Zach takes a special interest in ensuring that the details on woodwork, trim, and finishes are crafted to perfection. That attention to detail is carried over into all aspects of his work. He prides himself on delivering the highest quality of craftsmanship on every project he helps build.

What is your favorite work-related memory?

I loved seeing the excitement of the owner when we finished the first project I was a part of for Shaeffer Hyde. That was an inspiring moment for me.

Zach Guida is an OSHA-certified superintendent who has been working in construction since he was a teen. Born in Vail, at age 23 he took over his father’s general contracting company, and knew that he had truly found his calling. Zach is incredibly hard-working and a true team player, motivated by inspiring his crews to enjoy the job and put their best effort in every day.

I love this company because I have never been taken care of better at a job. The people make work easier.

Why do you like working in the valley?

There’s no boundaries for how big or complex a house can be when we build it. I love the constant challenges.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

I play in a rugby club, and I love snowboarding, downhill long boarding, dirt biking, and rafting. I also have a snow-white Scottish deer hound and a beautiful leopard gecko that is 23 years old.
